Local Girl Scouts Stop by to Lend a Hand

We recently had a local Girl Scout troop volunteer time for their service hours, and they wrote in to offer their take on the experience:

As Girl Scout volunteers, we are always on the lookout for engaging opportunities for our girls and their families to offer service to our community. Over the years, we have had the chance to participate in everything from school supply drives to blood drives, garden beautification to food pantry stocking. However, our recent experience at the St. Louis Diaper Bank was not only rewarding, but left our fifth graders begging to return for more!

Whether counting, wrapping, stacking, or creating handwriting notes for moms, our kids loved every bit of hands-on service they were able to provide. The tangible impact of this service opportunity was not lost on one child, as they carefully considered the message in each note they wrote, and counted (and recounted) piles to be certain every family received the correct size and number of diapers. Our volunteer leader, Wyndy, eloquently imparted the importance of our task, and each child took it to heart.

When our two hours were up, our kids asked if we could stay just a bit longer—a first in our many years of service projects! We are so grateful for the opportunity to be part of this organization, and truly look forward to returning soon, with more young hands on deck!
