Diaper Bank Receives 150,000 Diaper Donation

On June 7, the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank received truckload of 150,000 donated diapers from Huggies and the National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN). Through their “No Baby Unhugged” program, Huggies donates over 20 million diapers each year to the National Diaper Bank Network who then distributes the donated diapers to regional Diaper Banks. This is the first year the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank has been eligible for inclusion in this important donation program.

Founded in 2014 by Executive Director, Jessica Adams, the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank is the only organization in eastern Missouri dedicated to understanding and ending diaper need. “Diaper Need” is the agonizing experience of not being able to afford the diapers you need and 1 in 3 St. Louis families routinely experience this need.

The Diaper Bank works with eighteen St. Louis organizations serving low-income women and children to provide the diapers families need to keep their children clean and dry, happy and healthy. In April of 2017, the Diaper Bank committed to providing over half a million diapers to these partners this year, providing between 25-50 diapers each month for every child served.

This donation of diapers from Huggies and NDBN will make it possible for the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank to increase distribution to 50 diapers per month for each child, which is an evidence-based, best practice standard aimed at eliminating a family’s experience of diaper need altogether.
