The Hancock & Bayless Parents as Teachers program is just starting to see the benefits of a partnership with the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank.
The Parents as Teachers organization's vision is that all children grow and develop to reach their full potential. Parents partner with a parent educator on a tailored program to support their strengths and skills for a more successful family. Their program provides in-home visits, developmental screenings, group connections, and other resources to families in our community with children from birth through kindergarten.
According to the organizations director, Erika Anderson, "Diapers are an expensive basic necessity that many of our families can't afford, but a resource we can offer them now thanks to The St. Louis Area Diaper Bank. Since our partnership in April we've been able to provide diapers to all our families on home visits. This partnership has helped alleviate some stress on our parents, keep our babies dry and happy and been key to ensuring that families keep their home visit appointments."
The early years in a child's life are crucial in developing attachment and trust. Providing diapers supports the Parents as Teachers mission to aid parents allowing children to ultimately feel safe and loved. The Parents as Teachers program strives to offer resources and diapers are unavailable through other agencies, but extremely needed by many of the families they serve.
The St. Louis Area Diaper Bank is excited to be partnering with an organization as vital and family-focused as Hancock & Bayless Parents as Teachers. Families are receiving not just diapers, but additional social and skills-focused support, and the organization is able to help and motivate families through this partnership.
